It is almost impossible to have “nothing to do” while staying at Mallaig Backpackers.

Mallaig has many amenities including Swimming Pool, Marine World, Heritage Centre, Library.

Visitors to the area can enjoy a variety of boat trips including Whale Watching, and access to Knoydart peninsula, one of the most remote and beautiful areas in Scotland. Here you’ll find wilderness, wildlife, challenging climbs, exhilarating adventure.

Also the Small Isles of Canna, Rum, Eigg and Muck. These are well worth a visit and make sure to take your camera for some photo’s of stunning scenery and wildlife.

In the surrounding area enjoy hillwalking, climbing, kayaking.

Close to Mallaig there are beautiful beaches at Morar, Camusdarrach, made famous in the film Local Hero, and many more to visit.

Glenfinnan is home to the Bonnie Prince Charlie monument and the history associated with Scotland’s prince..and of course Glenfinnan Viaduct is the most famous part of the “Harry Potter” railway.

The ferry to the Isle of Skye travels daily, this is also a trip worth taking to enjoy the dramatic scenery and plentiful wildlife that the island has to offer, maybe some shopping in the island capital of Portree.
